The Hanged Man in Tarot's Fools Journey

The Hanged Man

Water Sign Ruler Neptune
Hanged Man Symbols

A man hanging by one foot from a bar or tree. His free leg is always bent to form an inverted "4," his face is always peaceful, never suffering. His hands are bound.

Hanged Man Story

The Fool settles beneath a tree, intent on finding his spiritual self. There he stays for nine days, without eating, barely moving. People pass by him, animals, clouds, the wind, the rain, the stars, sun and moon.

On the ninth day, with no conscious thought of why he climbs the tree and dangles from a branch upside down like a child. For a moment, he surrenders all that he is, wants, knows or cares about. Coins fall from his pockets and as he gazes down on them - seeing them not as money but only as round bits of metal.

It seems to him that his perspective of the world has completely changed, as if his inverted position has allowed him to dangle between the mundane world and the spiritual world, able to see both. It is a dazzling moment, dreamlike yet crystal clear.

Timeless as this moment of clarity seems, he realizes that it will not last. Very soon, he must right himself, but when he does, things will be different. He will have to act on what he's learned. For now, however, he just hangs, weightless as if underwater, observing, absorbing and truly seeing.

Hanged Man Meaning

With Neptune, or water, as its ruling planet, the Hanged Man is perhaps the most fascinating stop on the Fools journey. It stands opposite of the World on the journey. With the World you go infinitely out; with the Hanged Man, you go infinitely in.

Many believe the Hanged Man reflects the story of Odin who offered himself as a sacrifice in order to gain knowledge. Hanging from the world tree, wounded by a spear, given no bread or mead, he dangled for nine days.

On the last day, he saw on the ground runes that had fallen from the tree, understood their meaning, and, coming down, scooped them up for his own. All knowledge is to be found in these runes.

It has also been likened to that moment when a babe in the womb turns upside-down so that it may be born, hanging, as it were, from its umbilical cord.
The Hanged Man is similar to all of these: like Odin, he allows himself to be hung so that he can gain wisdom for the world. He sees things from an inverted perspective. What is right to him is wrong to others and vice versa. And like the babe in the womb, the Hanged Man hangs suspended between one world, the womb, and the next, outside the womb.

What is important to remember is that this is about suspension, not life or death. Things will continue on in a moment, but for now, they float, timeless.

Yet this isn't just a position of rest; it means that your view of the world is very different from the rest of us who walk upright.

This waiting becomes a time of trial or meditation, selflessness, sacrifice, prophecy. This new way of seeing things often leads to insights and enlightenment. Answers now become clear on the life journey, solutions to problems are found. All of which the Hanged Man hoped to buy with his sacrifice.

The first step into the esoteric is to discard the mundane world and be reborn. We must surrender all that we thought we had mastered and all resistance to new ways of thinking. We must make ourselves venerable to visions and psychic energies; effectively, a return to the womb, a spiritual womb, a spiritual rebirth.

This new outlook will be birthed by the High Priestess who, remember, sits at that still place between opposites.

The Hanged Man shows his willingness to embrace new thoughts and ideas when he willingly allows himself to be suspended and dangle inverted from one leg. Neptune is spirituality, dreams and psychic abilities, and the Hanged Man has allowed himself to be lowered into those deep waters, floating there, absorbing all they offer him. He is waiting for that moment when he will be born into a new consciousness.

The Hanged Man signifies a time on our journey when we begin feeling sensitive, vulnerable, introverted, suspended even as they also experience insight so deep that for a moment, nothing but that insight exists.

This is a time of vision quests but also, very simply, of those times when you put aside your prejudices and open yourself up to different ideas. Or just try something new and strange. It is a time when you change your perspective.

Such moments don't last, and they usually require some kind of sacrifice. Sacrifice of a belief or a wish, dream, hope, money, time or even selfhood. The sacrifice may be made to get into the inverted position, or it may be made to get out of the inverted position.

Regardless of the method, in order to gain, you must give. Great or small, spiritual or mundane what you gain from making that sacrifice and allowing yourself to see things differently is insights and solutions. This new perception will alter forever the manner in which you view everyone else you care about, and may be why we are willing to make the sacrifices.

One thing is certain, once you have been the Hanged Man you never see things quite as you did before.

Free Psychic Development

I receive many emails and messages from individuals, often on a daily basis, asking for help with their psychic development. Unfortunately I cannot respond to, or work with every person that contacts me, I just don't have the time, but the whole point of my work is to help you to help yourselves.

My articles are my way of being available to as many people as possible; to help empower, encourage, educate and inform people as to how to develop their psychic, intuitive, and spiritual side.

I have to say that I am slightly disturbed when people say that they need things to help them develop, such as crystals, or that they can't afford to help themselves develop.

When I first started on my psychic development journey I was 13 years old and I had no money. I spent hours in the library, and there are a lot more books and resources available now than there were back then. Now we have the internet, eBooks, online courses and a whole lot more. I started with some library books, a secondhand set of tаrоt cards (which I still have and love because they were my mum's) and a makeshift dowsing pendulum, until I managed to get one at a psychic fair that my mum took me to when I was 14.

It was a huge investment for me of £3.

It was only later when I was working that I could start to buy crystals, books and courses, but the majority of my work still consisted of free psychic development exercises.

Working In A Development Group Or Circle Is The Best Way To Access Free Psychic Development

It's wonderful to find a group of people to work with, courses, workshops etc. but you can do this on your own. Many times I went on courses or workshops on my own, without knowing anyone else there, or what to expect. When I did find a development group it was the end of 2001, I'd been working on my own for at least 13 years. We met in each others' houses. We committed our time, we worked, laughed and cried together, and we became a family, but it didn't cost us anything. Quite the contrary it was priceless. You couldn't buy what we had (and still have).

Yes, you can spend money on your psychic development, but you don't have to. By the way, I'm a firm believer that any time or money invested in yourself on personal, spiritual or other development is well worth it.

There are many low cost and free ways to develop your psychic and intuitive skills, you do not need money to become more psychic.

Here are my top tips for free Psychic development.

Read up on the basics: Protection & the basics of healing.
Learn to dowse- it's easy and you can use anything, a ring on a piece of string or chain, I can dowse with a polo mint on a piece of thread!
Meditate - it's as simple as sitting still and counting your breath in for four, hold, our for four - for about 10 -20 mins.
Talk to people, make discreet inquiries, you just never know who might be interested in the same thing as you, and might be interested in working with you.
Connect with people of like-mind on Facebook groups and forums (but please be aware of the risks befriending strangers and take extra precautions if you plan to meet up).
Start your own group or development circle.
Visit your local spiritualist church, they often have free events, healing nights, medium demonstrations and circles.
For low cost psychic development:

check out charity shops and browse car boots and independent shops when they have a sale,
keep an eye out online for special offers and subscribe to free newsletter that will help you find out more about your chosen subject.
remember all you need is yourself, some quiet time, and maybe one or two tools, many of which you can make yourself or find at very low cost.
You Cannot Buy Being Psychic!

Yes, I and many others charge for books and courses, they take a lot of time, experience, knowledge and money to produce. But we also offer a lot for free, so if you can use all the free psychic development tools and articles available to you and not spend a penny on your psychic development, then that's great, it's the work you put in that counts, not how much you spend.

The essential work that you must do to develop your skills and become a better psychic, medium, clairvoyant or healer, is just to do it, over and over and over again!

Do not make excuses or put your development in the hands of someone else, take control of it and commit to achieving what you want to achieve.

Work at it, persevere with it, and do it with love and goodwill to others. You just never know what might come back to find you.

Live Tаrоt Card Reading: Understanding Tаrоt Cards

Tаrоt cards have been in existence for a very long time. The cards usually come with different illustrations. For example, there are those that come with angels, cats, astrological symbols, dolphins, and even dragons.

Types of tаrоt cards

The decks are usually of different types with the main types being:

Tаrоt of the Marseilles: also known as Marseilles deck, this is the oldest and most famous tаrоt card in existence. The card started being used in France during the 16th century. The card's Major Arcana has highly evocative imagery in primary colors; however, the Minor Arcana only displays the Roman numerals.

Thoth card: it contains imagery from different sources such as Egyptian mythology. The imagery displayed brings a number of concepts together. For example, it brings together Qabalah, astrology, and numerology concepts.

Rider-Waite deck: it was published in 1909 and it's considered as a symbolic instrument.

How to read the cards

There are two main ways of reading the cards: question and open reading.

In question reading, you ask the card questions and it guides you. For ideal results, you should ask an open question so that the card can guide you. For example, if you are having problems with your mother-in-law, you can ask the card to give you ways on how to get along with her.

You should also ensure that your question is focused. While the question should be focused, you should avoid being too detailed. For example, you can ask the card to guide you in scheduling your time and that of your kids.

You shouldn't ask the card to guide you on how to coordinate your football and schedule time for your family. This is because this is too detailed and you won't receive ideal solutions.

To increase the chances of getting positive results you should ensure that you ask positive questions.

Open reading addresses the larger aspects of your life rather than a specific problem that you might be going through. In most cases, this type of reading is used when you are entering a specific phase in your life. For example, the reading is used when you are getting married, graduating or starting a family.

This is what you need to know about tаrоt card reading. To get perfect results, you should approach a professional tаrоt reader. If you don't have money to hire a tаrоt reader, you should be on the watch out for free services that are usually offered from time to time.

Which Tаrоt Deck Is Better?

The choice of deck depends on how you prefer to do readings, how your intuition works and how much you like or need your imagination to be stimulated!

Tаrоt Readings or for that matter any psychic work, primarily works through our innate (or developed) capacity to imagine and whether we are visual or Kinesthetic (intuition is through touch or body sensations).

Psychic information is all about feelings… micro emotional reactions that are then created into sensations, thoughts, visions and spontaneous unplanned body movements.

Kinesthetic people receive feelings through the body. Visual people receive feelings through visions. If Kinesthetic people were to develop their brain more, they would start to receive clear visions. Kinesthetics tend to be physical. Every issue that deeply affects them manifests through physical reactions such as sickness. Kinesthetics need to meditate a lot to harmonize the usual disconnect between the body and mind. However, Kinesthetics may often dislike meditation.

So what does this have to do with Tаrоt Decks?

Tаrоt Decks can be rudimentary-with basic images i.e., fewer clues or very image dense, with a lot of clues.

Simpler images belonged to a time, when people used their imagination a lot… just a small thing could mean so much. Lately, new Tаrоt deck trends are that they are quite dense with imagery that almost anybody can read the Tаrоt and get something out of the session.

I find that very image heavy decks make it very easy and straightforward… one deck that comes to mind-that literally anyone can read from is Doreen Virtue’s Angel Tаrоt Cards.
1. Does gender have an impact?
By and large, women are more Kinesthetic-i.e., their intuitive feeling side is quite connected to body sensations.
2. What is your comfort zone?
If you struggle to imagine and visualize, then Tаrоt decks with stronger and denser images will help you. However, if you can make a big story from just a blot on a paper, then the simpler imagery of Rider E. Wait would give you a lot to go on.
3. Reading for others or self?
If you are going to read for others, then your ‘client’ may enjoy a beautiful deck.
Some tips for choosing a deck:
1. Especially if you are Kinesthetic - touch and feel matter. Do try out the decks at local spiritual bookstores.
2. Can you look at the colours and shapes for a while, without getting bored?
3. Can you relate to the characters? Would you like to get into their skin? do they appear enchanting, interesting and alive?
4. Can you handle the deck? some deck cards are pretty large and hard to handle. Others are relatively easy to handle.
5. How much do your palms sweat? Choosing glossier paper or using saran wrap is a great idea for people whose tаrоt cards stick together because of sweaty palms
6. Give yourself a trial reading at the bookstore. Ask for help and advice. Usually people at the store are very knowledgeable about products.
Good luck with your search!

The Most Popular Tаrоt Card Spreads Are About Love

Love, money and career issues seem to be on the minds of millions of people today. The majority of men and women calling the psychic hotline are looking for answers in their love life. It is not uncommon for a tаrоt card reader to hear, “When am I going to meet someone who I can have a romantic future with?” It is true that love is hard to find these days. Some people spend their entire 20’s, 30’s and even 40’s searching for the perfect soul mate. Tаrоt is an art that has been practiced for hundreds of years. The cards themselves were once only playing cards. When artists began to design the cards for spiritual reasons, tаrоt began to take on popularity in the spiritual realm. Many psychics began to believe that they had the same power as astrology charts. They could simply tell the future of an individual’s life.
Today, tarot is one of the most sought after spiritual gifts. Other spiritual reading gifts include: clairvoyance, daily horoscope columns, astrology charts, numerology, angel card readings, runes and much more. You can find over 100 different psychic reading styles. Most astrology websites promote love psychic readings because the majority of callers and chatters want to know what is happening in theirs. It can be an amazing experience to have a reader tell you that Mr. or Mrs. Right is about to walk into your life when you least expect.
In the 1990’s, popular tаrоt card readers were the famous Mrs. Cleo and others that worked on psychic hotlines. Remember she used to say, “Call me now”. Tаrоt spreads can last for several years. Most spreads will cost you around $5.00 per question. Some tаrоt readers work differently and often enjoy giving advice to people who are in need.
The thought of having someone know your future is a bit mystic to most people. Most astrology experts say that tаrоt is the most accurate out of all the readings. You can easily find new information about the New Year in this wonderful art form. Astrology websites predict that love questions will be the highlight of their business in the years to come. Most experts say that it is amazing to understand a fortune. A fortune can give you an insight into the future for various reasons.
Horoscopes are the kind of information that people look at most. If you are someone who enjoys learning about your future, you may look into these types of psychic readings. They are often a great way to understanding life in general and they can predict more than just love. In order to find a reputable tаrоt card reader, it is best to look at their reputation. Look for readers with a 5 star reputation. Most astrology sites use a 5 star rating system in which clients rate a reader.
There are over 1,000,000 tаrоt card readers in the world today from different countries. The internet makes it easy to connect with readers because anyone can join these websites and have fun.

Premonitions, Self-Fulfilling Prophecies or The Law Of Attraction

When it comes to spiritual philosophies like these, much like when you consider the concept of time travel, there is a whole world of apparent contradiction, confusion and chicken & egg scenarios that can lead to one hell of a headache when we try to rationalise them.
Here’s the thing, no one really knows. We’re all making this up as we go along. Granted I am making up my beliefs on everything I write about on the back of a lifetime of experience, research, personal development and philosophising, but even so. No one has the definitive answers to this stuff. So here are my (simplified) thoughts. Allow them to guide you to yours, whether you agree with me or not.
The Law Of Attraction states that what we focus on we receive.
It’s similar to a self-fulfilling prophecy where we tell ourselves over and over again that we are a certain way: lucky, unlucky, clumsy, wealthy, happy, miserable etc. and lo and behold, we are that way.
Is a premonition different to a self-fulfilling prophecy?
Or is it something that is going to happen anyway?
What’s the difference and how can we tell them apart?
So, one day I had a premonition about an event. It kept coming back to me over a few years. And eventually it came to pass. Now, my question to myself was, did the initial premonition occur through fear, or even wondering what my future might be like. Was my mind making stuff up as it is want to do? Did I then focus on it, which, given what the law of attraction states - we attract what we focus on - caused it to come into being? Or was it going to happen anyway?
The answer is that I don’t really know.
Yes, I Have Had Premonitions That Have Come True!
I have had premonitions on many occasions, about all sorts of things, a person’s illness, death, a child being conceived, the gender of friends’ children before they were born, accidents, celebrations and more. Usually they are fleeting glimpses that have simply popped into my head. I haven’t asked for them, I haven’t been thinking about the person concerned. I just know, feel or see them in my mind’s eye.
I have also manifested things that I have wanted in my life by focussing on them. A manifestation or self-fulfilling prophecy is one that comes about through your thoughts creating your reality, combined with repeated actions, beliefs and habits that are aligned with achieving that outcome.
In my opinion there is also a crossover possibility. A lot of times a premonition is only the possibility of an event occurring, it’s not ALWAYS set in stone. So when you have or are told about a premonition about yourself, you can then bring it into being by your thoughts, actions and beliefs. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. (Especially if it is not a positive end result.)
I’ve Also Had Premonitions That Only Have A Possibility Of Happening
I noticed this specifically when I used to do Tаrоt card readings. I would often see two potential outcomes for the person I was reading for. Their current course of action would take them one way, but altering it would mean they had a second, optional route to take.
Think about it in practical terms. If a person is overweight and goes to the doctor. Their doctor may predict their future to be filled with health issues, continued weight gain, lack of mobility, joint problems, possibly diabetes, and circulatory problems. BUT they have a choice. If they make a few lifestyle changes they have a completely different potential future. It’s up to them, it’s not set in stone.
If that same person continually tells themselves, they are worthless, fat, overweight, can’t exercise etc. What do you think will happen to them… They will become their own self-fulfilling proposition!
I also believe that there are some events that are set in stone and will come to pass. Admittedly, it can be hard, perhaps impossible to differentiate between a certain premonition, a potential premonition and a vision of something that we could attract into our lives. But I don’t think you necessarily need to be able to tell them apart.
If you have a premonition that something would turn out a particular way that you didn’t want to happen like that, go ahead and make changes, fight it, find an alternative outcome to work towards and do everything in your power to achieve it. As a said, it may just be a possibility, even a premonition can be altered.
And, if it’s going to happen anyway you will probably be better prepared for it this way too. I would never just resign myself to it, I would always prepare for it, then focus on and plan for a different outcome.
Saying all of that, when I’ve had premonitions I could do nothing about I’ve always had a sense of calm with it, of knowing that this was the way it was mean to be. Even on the tough stuff I just knew it was going to happen and I just had to prepare for it.
Plan for the best, prepare for the worst!
If I’m honest, I think that most of the ‘set in stone’ premonitions are major events and incidents. If it reassures you, I have even seen the premonition of a terminal illness turned around, with sufficient healing. Most of the rest, well I reckon we have some control over so it doesn’t really matter whether it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy or a premonition because you can work with it, or against it either way.

Technological Triumphs Contributing to the Greater Popularity of Online Tаrоt Card Reading

Tаrоt cards are exclusively popular across the world in the contemporary times. This trend had gained prominence mostly from Europe, during the medieval age. However, the trend itself entered Europe from the oriental world. As such, the deck and the approach have changed drastically over the ages. In this context, it will not be exaggerating to mention that modern tаrоt cards were introduced to the world from nowhere else but Europe. Various European races like the Germans, Italians, Spanish, Portuguese and of course, the French have contributed substantially, at different time spans, to the practice of modern tаrоt card reading.
As far as the first documented history, which has been excavated till date, is concerned, the first cards were created around the mid 1400s in Milan, Italy. In this day and time, when human technology has attained unprecedented heights of success, in form of digital technology and the internet, occult culture and occult practices are much popular across the society. As such, the latest version of technology has facilitated tаrоt reading to go online. Moreover, the string of technological triumphs that man has achieved in the recent times has helped this culture to gain higher prominence. Tаrоt reading is more easily accessible in the contemporary age across the virtual world of the internet.
Many dependable online portals have come into existence these days that are offering tаrоt reading services. The approach to reading tаrоt cards online involves facilities like telephonic conversation, live chat, video conference, text messages and even email. Many dedicated tаrоt reading portals have myriads of dedicated customers. On the other hand, several such websites offer lucrative freebies to visitors. However, exclusive services are offered only after a visitor registers as a paid member. In short, the art of tаrоt reading exhibits a significant commercial prospect in the contemporary age when consumerism reigns supreme.
The 78 cards that are present in a typical tаrоt deck are combined of two sections - Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana comprises of 22 cards while the Minor Arcana consists of the rest 56. The Major Arcana section covers an arc starting from the number zero (0) or, the Fool to 21 or, the World. The metaphorical arc represents an individual’s journey from ignorance to wisdom and enlightenment. Considering the immense popularity of this supernatural practice, it is obvious that an authentic online tarot-card reading guide impacts people’s lives in ways more than one.
The rest of the cards of the Major Arcana depict the characteristic traits or the experiences that one should go through along the journey of life to achieve enlightenment. Some of the major ones in this context include strength, justice, love and death, etc. the cards of the Minor Arcana deals with the mundane aspects of life, which are a part and parcel of our everyday life. Each of these cards again has its identical interpretation. Most importantly, placement of the cards is crucial, depending on which either the positive or the negative meanings will become relevant in the interpretation.
