The choice of deck depends on how you prefer to do readings, how your intuition works and how much you like or need your imagination to be stimulated!

Tаrоt Readings or for that matter any psychic work, primarily works through our innate (or developed) capacity to imagine and whether we are visual or Kinesthetic (intuition is through touch or body sensations).

Psychic information is all about feelings… micro emotional reactions that are then created into sensations, thoughts, visions and spontaneous unplanned body movements.

Kinesthetic people receive feelings through the body. Visual people receive feelings through visions. If Kinesthetic people were to develop their brain more, they would start to receive clear visions. Kinesthetics tend to be physical. Every issue that deeply affects them manifests through physical reactions such as sickness. Kinesthetics need to meditate a lot to harmonize the usual disconnect between the body and mind. However, Kinesthetics may often dislike meditation.

So what does this have to do with Tаrоt Decks?

Tаrоt Decks can be rudimentary-with basic images i.e., fewer clues or very image dense, with a lot of clues.

Simpler images belonged to a time, when people used their imagination a lot… just a small thing could mean so much. Lately, new Tаrоt deck trends are that they are quite dense with imagery that almost anybody can read the Tаrоt and get something out of the session.

I find that very image heavy decks make it very easy and straightforward… one deck that comes to mind-that literally anyone can read from is Doreen Virtue’s Angel Tаrоt Cards.
1. Does gender have an impact?
By and large, women are more Kinesthetic-i.e., their intuitive feeling side is quite connected to body sensations.
2. What is your comfort zone?
If you struggle to imagine and visualize, then Tаrоt decks with stronger and denser images will help you. However, if you can make a big story from just a blot on a paper, then the simpler imagery of Rider E. Wait would give you a lot to go on.
3. Reading for others or self?
If you are going to read for others, then your ‘client’ may enjoy a beautiful deck.
Some tips for choosing a deck:
1. Especially if you are Kinesthetic - touch and feel matter. Do try out the decks at local spiritual bookstores.
2. Can you look at the colours and shapes for a while, without getting bored?
3. Can you relate to the characters? Would you like to get into their skin? do they appear enchanting, interesting and alive?
4. Can you handle the deck? some deck cards are pretty large and hard to handle. Others are relatively easy to handle.
5. How much do your palms sweat? Choosing glossier paper or using saran wrap is a great idea for people whose tаrоt cards stick together because of sweaty palms
6. Give yourself a trial reading at the bookstore. Ask for help and advice. Usually people at the store are very knowledgeable about products.
Good luck with your search!
